January
thoughts linger like snowflakes
silent and surreal
whispering past my window
silently
delicately they light
peaceful and clean
finding reason to be.
Suddenly
northern winds blow
taking them by surprise
making them dance and
swirl
they cling
to obscurity
the wind inhales their
tiny frozen offerings
tranquility ambushed.
Then
out of pity
or jest
a pause in the bitter
breeze
silently
delicately they light
purity
on winters' floor
whispering past the pines
peacefully dusting
all of articulate life
still standing.
Suddenly
the mighty winds boast
with bone chilling laughter
sweeping them away
from their destiny.
